“My soul doth glory in your love, O Lord. For you smiled on your servant with compassion, and you reached out and took me by the hand.”
Bernadette McLaughlin is currently a member of St. Christopher Parish and until 10 years ago was previously a life-long member of St. William Parish. She attended St. William Elementary School, Cardinal Dougherty High School, LaSalle College (B.A. in Elementary and Special Education) and Neumann University (M.S. in Education in Curriculum Leadership).
Bernadette and her husband, Vince, both grew up in Lawndale and also raised their sons, Sean and Drew in that neighborhood, where Sean and Drew attended St. William School, Bishop McDevitt High School, and King’s College in Wilkes-Barre. Unfortunately, both sons decided to stay in the Wilkes-Barre area! Bernadette has two grandchildren, Jake and Anna, who are 4 and 2 years old (meaning frequent trips up the Northeast Extension!).
Bernadette has a long commitment to Catholic education having previously taught at St. William School and Holy Innocents Area Catholic School. Having finally achieved her childhood dream of becoming a teacher in her late 30s, she is dedicated to improving educational opportunities for students who think and learn in a different way than most children.
